Rochelle Hoffler, LCSW-S (she/her)
Adult Psychotherapist
I decided to become a therapist because I am constantly amazed by the resiliency humanity and learning about how people adapt and survive. I am humbled to witness and be a part of someone’s healing process and learn about their life stories.
Through my work, I’ve witnessed how childhood trauma and other distressing experiences that occur can lead us to receive messages about ourselves that are false and destructive.
The therapeutic process fosters an environment to unpack those false beliefs, creating cognitions that are accurate and adaptive, leading to a more authentic, fulfilled life moving forward. Being a part of that process and promoting mental wellness is my life’s work.
I received my Bachelors (BSW) and Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Texas State University in San Marcos. I have over 25 years of Social Work experience working with diverse client populations in child welfare, acute care hospital settings, and psychiatric facilities.
My style is direct and compassionate. I aspire to assist you on your journey back to living your life with improved perspective and adaptive coping mechanisms.
I am a Certified EMDR Therapist. EMDR is widely recognized to be an effective treatment for trauma and other distressing experiences. Additionally, I provide other treatment modalities to fit each individual’s needs.
I'm featured in a brief EMDR International Association video about becoming and EMDR Therapist.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an issue that can develop after a person experiences a physical or psychological trauma such as sexual assault, war, traffic accidents, extended hospitalization, violent crime, or any event that a person finds distressing.
Trauma is not limited to these serious events. Trauma is about the negative messages you receive about yourself due to any event you found distressing and how those messages impact your functioning.
Some symptoms include flashbacks, hypersensitivity, avoidance of the situation, nightmares, trouble sleeping, and overwhelming memories of the event, which last a month or more after the traumatic event.
You may be experiencing depression if you have any of the following symptoms and it has lasted longer than two weeks:
- Sadness or despair
- Decreased self-esteem
- Sleep disturbance such as insomnia or hypersomnia
- Inability to draw pleasure from activities you once enjoyed
- Fatigue and decreased sex drive
- Feeling numb
Experiencing some anxiety is normal. However, an anxiety disorder can be a disruption to your daily functioning if you frequently have intense, excessive, persistent worry/fear around situations that you encounter daily.
People who have an anxiety disorder may have gastrointestinal (GI) problems, have the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety, or may experience frequent feelings of impending danger or doom. People who have experienced trauma or a build-up of stress are at greater risk of experiencing an anxiety disorder.
